One of the highlights of recent weeks was being invited to share our ideas on sustainability with the 40+ members of Scotland Funders’ Forum.
We focused on the work we’ve been doing in partnership with Shared Care Scotland, showcasing our draft resources and inviting funders to think about how they measure and support projects’ sustainability.
Funders were very responsive, giving us useful feedback and helpful questions. In particular;
• Our sustainability criteria can be used to assess grant applications or as organisational health checks.
• Our tools have the potential to become a well known and accepted resource.
• The tools take organisations back to their core purposes, helping them stay true to their identity and avoid becoming led by funding.
• It’s helpful that our tools encourage organisations to prioritise their welfare over and above fitting into funders’ criteria.
We’re continuing to develop our resources, working towards workshops at the Gathering in February 2016 and, with Shared Care Scotland, the International Short Breaks Federation Conference in September 2016.
